What does 'exception: No Wiimotes found in the HID device list' mean?

This is a common error from Smoothboard because your Wiimote has not been correctly connected as a HID.

This is the first time I have tried to connect

  • Common fixes
    • Wait (holding buttons 1 & 2) while your computer installs the hardware drivers (may take a few moments)
    • Low Wiimote batteries
    • You aren't the computers 'Admin' and you don't have permission to load HID's - Log on as Admin and install device, then it will connect from your normal user
    • You have a firewall or virus/registry/system monitor that blocks system/registry changes - Disable during first connection, then re-enable
    • Sometimes shutting down and restarting triggers the HID driver install on the restart

It has worked before

  • Common fixes
    • Low Wiimote batteries
    • Hold buttons 1 & 2 through whole connection process, releasing just before starting application


I have tried all of this and nothing works
